Do you think Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie) would enjoy a strawberry cocktail? What about a strawberry cocktail named after him?
Yeah, I think he will love that. Not only will he enjoy this drink, but you can as well! The Ziggy Caipi is a low sugar balanced martini that is refreshing, light, and delicious! Here are the ingredients for the “Ziggy Caipi” cocktail that will have you humming his tunes with every sip.
Many people are not exposed to the deliciousness of a Brazilian cocktail. The most common question I receive from others when discussing mixology is, “What is a Brazilian cocktail?” The best way to describe a Brazilian cocktail is this: it is a light, refreshing, and natural drink. It is so refreshing, you will crave a second round. Brazil’s national drink is the “Caipirinha,” which is a simple and exhilarating drink mixed with limes, sugar, and cachaca. All of the drinks I create are called, “Caipi,” which is a shorter term for “Caipirinha.” Now the main ingredient, the cachaça, is our national spirit which is made of pure sugar cane juice. A Brazilian cocktail is not necessarily made with cachaca, for it can be created with other spirits as well. My personal favorite is the “Caipi Vodka,” which is also known as “Caipiroska.”
For my original “Caipi,” the recipe consists of limes, agave nectar light (replacing sugar as a natural sweetener) and using the spirits: Cachaca, Vodka, Bourbon, Sake.
1.5 oz of Cachaca or Vodka or Sake or Bourbon
0.5 oz of Agave nectar light
1/2 lime
Recipe:
Cut the lime in a half and after in 4 wedges, place the lime wedges and agave nectar light in a shaker and muddle all together, then place the liquor and the ice and do a really good shake to get a well balanced Original Caipi.
The latest Star Wars movie, “The Force Awakens,” made its appearance in theaters earlier this December. Because I am a serious obsessed Star Wars fan, Miss Caipi had to create a Star Wars… Caipi.
